WHAT IS BOTOX?
Botox is a drug to reduce the appearance of wrinkles based on a neurotoxin created from a bacteria known as Clostridium botulinum. Its name comes from that process; bo- (botulinum) -tox (toxin). When injected into certain muscle groups, Botox causes these muscles in the face to relax, reducing the appearance of wrinkles for several months. Botox and Dysport are FDA-approved neurotoxins that relax facial muscles to reduce wrinkles and fine lines. By blocking nerve signals, they soften existing wrinkles and help prevent new ones from forming.
The key difference lies in their formulation. Dysport spreads more quickly, making it ideal for larger areas like the forehead, while Botox is more concentrated and perfect for precise areas like crow’s feet. Dysport’s effects can appear within 2-3 days, while Botox results take 3-5 days to develop fully. Both treatments last 3-4 months, with results tailored to your needs.
